Also I think some parents are like "we'll help you once you demonstrate you can help yourself."

Basically they want their kids to think for themselves as people who have to take responsibility for their own actions in the world. Once they show the capacity for that then they're more accepting of giving assistance because they know it won't be squandered or leaving them developmentally inert.

To me it does seem like an easy path to get your kids into bad practices as young adults with all the freedom in the world but keeping them at home never deterred a rebellious kid from doing their own thing anyway so...better their own roof than yours, I guess.

"Git gud" is more about people complaining about unfair tactics in a game where it's more on the player to better themselves to overcome. The game isn't screwing you over, you just suck so stop bitching.

Basically wanting things made easier because you refuse to skill up. It isn't about people just sliding through on the easiest difficulty (although if they start complaining about the game not offering a lot of interesting moments or gameplay because they weren't being challenged at a low difficulty, that could warrant a "git gud" in response).
